
Stefanie Japel is the author of the bestselling knitting book, “Fitted Knits.” Her second book, “Glam Knits” will be available in the fall of 2008.
Stefanie publishes her designs online at www.glampyre.com, as well as in knitting publications such as Vogue Knitting, Knit.1, Interweave Knits, and Knitscene. She has designed for Stitch Diva Studios, JCA Yarns, Art Yarns, and Southwest Trading Company, and has appeared as a guest designer on the television programs Knitty Gritty and The Needle Arts Studio. Her design “Cabledown Raglan” has recently been nominated for Interweave Knits Magazine’s 2008 “Readers’ Choice Award.”
This spring, Stefanie is the Featured Artist and Instructor at “Knitting in the Heartland,” a large knitting convention in Kansas City, Kansas.
Stefanie learned to knit when she was eight years old, and started designing knitwear in the early 1990s. Stefanie is a sixth-generation Kansan by birth, and currently lives in Las Cruces, New Mexico where she teaches Astronomy at New Mexico State University.
